Sweden's Pelle Edberg, a golfing also-ran on the European Tour just three weeks ago, was pinching himself yet again on Saturday.
The 28-year-old had never finished higher than ninth in a Tour event before he earned himself a place in the Open Championship by finishing third at the European Open.
But, after following that with fourth place at the Scottish Open, he will start the final round of the Open on one under par and still in with an outside chance after a superb 67.
"To come here was a real bonus," said Edberg, recognisable by his bandanas and lately by his big smile as well.
"It's been a big difference the last month and I'm really enjoying it. I think I'm too far behind [to win], but you never know what's going to happen with the weather."
Asked what he might do with his new-found wealth, the all-round sports fan - he supports Arsenal and plays a form of indoor hockey in the winter time - Edberg said: "Maybe a jet-ski. That would be nice."
His Tour earnings entering 2007 amounted to less than £45,000 and he had been to the qualifying school for nine straight years.
Edberg earned £114,000 in Ireland two weeks ago, even more at Loch Lomond and now another six-figure cheque is a possibility. Heady-stuff indeed for the man with the headband.
He did not drop a stroke for his third-round 67, picking up birdies on the sixth, 10th, 14th and 18th.
